Excellent weather for 9 of the 10 days for Davy Blairs epic 961mile trek, from Lands End to John O’Groats. Total time spent on the bike was 70.5hrs, with 50,159 feet of climbing, burning 22,552 calories. David was to cycle this route last year 2018, to celebrate his 60th birthday.
On a routine medical check, it was discovered that David had a heart defect. Open heart surgery was completed at the end of the year. Not one to be knocked back by open heart surgery, David went back into training. He then joined the surgeons who performed the operation, on a London to Paris bike jolly.
On the length of Britain marathon, the sun shone for 9 out of the 10 days David spent on the bike. The weather changed on the final day, turning to rain and cold. David says that the last 37 miles may have been the toughest miles he ever spent in the saddle.
David raised £2636 for local charities for his efforts. Well done David
